Nobody's Token was born out of a desire to showcase a collection
of some of the most talented African American improv comedians and writers in
New York. Keisha Zollar and Robert King, who had both been performing
improv comedy in New York since 2003, founded Nobody’s Token in 2009. They
gathered a group of actors and writers from varied performing backgrounds,
including The People's Improv Theatre, Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, NBC,
College Humor, Super Deluxe, and Cartoon Network's Adult Swim, to create a live
improvised show and to develop material for web/televised programming.
Nobody’s Token performs monthly at The Peoples Improv Theatre, along with their sister group North Coast. Nobody’s Token has also performed in
several festivals, including The North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival (DSI), the Baltimore and Boston improv fests, the Del Close Marathon, SketchProv (PIT), Up The Creek Improv Camp (The Creek), and more.
Nobody's Token creates memorable characters and wacky situations nightly, in fun environments that have never
been seen before.
Borrowing from your favorite sitcom plots and situations, NBT creates a brand new comedy show for audiences raised on The Cosby Show and Fresh Prince of Bel Air. They welcome you to revel with wacky neighbors, lovable loser dads, smart-aleck kid sisters, and all your favorite sitcom friends.
